Methane Gas—Bad News In The Wrong Places

Oil rig workers blame a methane gas bubble for the explosion on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, this according to the Associated Press. Of course, methane gas can be a clean and efficient source of energy, as Texans well know. In the wrong place, however, say in an oil pipeline, methane can be a disaster.

Another place we don’t want methane in abundance is our atmosphere. I read sometime back that methane is the top greenhouse gas by volume. The number one source of methane in the atmosphere, I read, is cow flatulence. That’s right, cow flatulence. So, I do my part for the environment by eating as much beef as I can.

Vegetarians can stop all the phony self-righteous preaching about showing compassion to animals. If vegetarians cared about the earth, they’d help us eat more cows. Global warming, if there is such a thing, could kill off entire species while vegetarians sit around eating beans and brussels sprouts yet ignoring those hyper-flatulent bovine.

By the way, the number two source of methane in the atmosphere—vegetarian flatulence.
